Another day another floor

our future home
Today was a laid back day; we didn’t really get moving till about 2pm. Then we went and looked at our options for flooring in the new house. We decided on using the cheap but durable click together flooring. The bedroom upstairs will get a medium oak like flooring, the bathroom will get a cherry looking floor and probrobly a cherry in the pantry to match up with the kitchen. We bought the oak style for the bedroom (240 sq ft); that was almost $300.

We took a trip to both Lowe’s, Grossmans and Home Depot looking at some bathroom sinks and such; Sue likes the vessel sinks, I do too, there is a guy on eBay that has a nice assortment, with faucets, at very reasonable prices. As of yet though we have not found a suitable vanity to put it on. We may make one out of something and get a granite top drilled for the sink and faucet.

The one concern we have, now that housing prices have been coming down, is that the house does not appraise for what we agreed on payng.  I’d really hate to have to find something else.

Ah well, time will tell and the Universe will provide.

Right now we are watching a fovorite movie of mine: The Gods Must be Crazy; a wonderful light-hearted comedy from the early 80’s. Check it out sometime.

Ugh…More Snow!

Another night, another snow fall. Yeah, I know, it aint all that much; but it is slick and idiots still do not know how to drive in it.

On the positve side though, our new house is starting to move along!

We got the attic area insulated this weekend and can now start bringing stuff over to put up there; out of the way. It is a decent sized space, with a floor, which at some time could even be made into another bedroom (better resale value!).

Billy had the insulation laying on the floor, we had Willie clean it up and put new stuff in the ceiling – the insulation alone was about $1000…..gulp.

But we are getting there! This week we meet again with money guys, hammer out the details and start the ball running.

Well last night was the first official snow fall. Damn, it was turning out to be such a nice winterr too. Granted it aint all that much, just a icy dusting, but I hate driving in it.

It seems like it has an effect on people; kinda like the full moon, the craziest drivers all of a sudden are all around you. While driving last night both to and from class there were people trying to break a land speed record zig-zaging through traffic.

I do not mind at all if these idiots want to remove themselves from the gene pool; I just don’t want them taking others with them.

Looks awful gloomy out there this morning. Fortunetly I’ll be out there shortly to brighten everyones day!

Thoughts from the Universe

These things just come to me from somewhere inside.  I try to listen and pay attention to them.  Lately we’ve been trying to master the laws of attraction and I really feel that one of the keys is beleiving that the things you have created in your mind already exist.  The beautiful mediterrainian house with lots of palm trees, the overflowing bank account, the life of great philanthropists, new cars, leisure time for creating, crafting and building…all these things are already ours.  We just have to allow them into our present reality.  We have to let go of the wanting and accept that they are already ours.

It’s like tuning in to a radio station that is already broadcasting.  Our bodies are the receivers and we just have to tune in to the broadcast that we wish to hear.  We’re working on the tuning in process.  More on that later….

Here’s a great quote for today

“The future enters into us… long before it happens”  -Rainier Maria Rilke

Getting goin’

So, yesterday we spoke with our old friend Billy and agreed on a price for his house. The place is a far cry better than what we have now; but will still need some work. Things like the electrical are important if for no reason other than peice of mind, but there are some small structural changes as well we want to address before we have all our stuff in there. Fortunetly he gave us the key, and permission, to start what work we have planned.

Lee & Deb were nice enough to come over to the place last night and give us their thoughts, as well as some pointers, on the changes we wish to make. Afterwards we all went out and had a nice dinner at Carrabba’s; a favorite of ours.

It will be nice having a different place to call home; this one has been good to us, but it has its ghosts as well.

The new place is smaller in many respects, but has more room in others. We will now have easy access to a basement as well as the attic for storage, and the garage is much larger than what we have now, but the rooms, with the exception of the kitchen are smaller.

It will also be nice to have a yard we can actually do something with. There is a place we can put a flagpole, a area for our patio, and even a little area to make a garden. As opposed to where we are now where the massive walnut trees totally block any light from getting into the back yard so nothing grows.

And here is a little Law of Attraction action for ya: when we had agreed on a price the housing market was still strong. Now though the prices are coming down and we have had some concern about not getting as much for ours as we would have before. And if the value of ours has going down so was the value of his. So we were wondering how we were going to aproach this subject with Bill. Somehow we had to ask him to consider lowering his price.

Yesterday, without any prompting from us, he lowered the price by $10,000.

It certianly is something to look forward to.
